Quality Life
"The Minnesota Board on Aging found, in a 2001 survey, that older people who don't take prescription drugs tend to participate in vigorous physical activity, are free of depression and don't worry about their health. Roughly (11%) eleven percent of Americans age 65 and older, according to a 2003 study by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Commonwealth Fund, don't take any prescription drugs. On the whole, though, medical researchers don't seem to have paid much attention to the sizable number of Americans who do without drugs". - AARP Bulletin May 2006 - Patrick J. Kiger.
What is frightening is that the age we begin to feel older is getting younger.
This seems to be one of the better descriptions of what a Quality Life should be. Our birthright is a Quality Life that should be able to be had by all ages well into our 70's and beyond - enjoyable, vigorous, depression free, disease free, drug free, full of energy and full of life! You've heard it a thousand times, "the human body is the most amazingly efficient self repairing organism ever created." And yet the evidence before our eyes makes it hard to believe. The media is full of reports about the rise of serious illnesses worldwide. It is a well documented fact that as we age we start to feel "older." Our response/reflex times are slower, our cognitive abilities are slower, our recovery times are longer, various aches and pains begin to manifest and we just don't have the oomph, we had when we were young. It is almost an accepted reality, that we are going to suffer old age instead of enjoy it. What is frightening is that the age we begin to feel older is getting younger. As we age, we need to support our body's systems - not replace the "natural" function with a drug. Isn't that what the AARP article seems to be saying?
What is the anomaly here? Why are only 11% of our seniors healthy and drug free? The truth is that those of us who permit the body to heal itself by providing the natural substances needed do not require drugs. The anomaly is that so few of us actually understand the truth. In spite of the fact that we have spent the generations since the start of the industrial revolution poisoning our environment (the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat) there is hope. Our bodies are designed to adapt, to heal and repair themselves. All that is required are the proper fuels and tools, all of which are available naturally and inexpensively.
In spite of the tremendous amounts of toxins we are exposed to daily, we can turn the corner on their devastating effects.
Every time you use a drug to overcome symptoms of distress it is inherently debilitating to the body's normal function. There are several FDA approved drugs on the market presently that actually suppress the body's immune systems. (Example; taking a drug for the painful symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis that suppresses the immune system to the point that two possible side effects are death from infection or lymphoma.) This attitude toward health and aging will not lead to a long, healthy, quality life. It will lead to dependency, addiction, weakness, frailty, accelerated dysfunction of all body systems and eventually death. Please think about the problem, not the symptoms, for by treating the symptoms and not the problem you weaken your body's natural ability to heal itself.
In spite of the tremendous amounts of toxins we are exposed to daily, we can turn the corner on their devastating effects. By permitting our bodies to eliminate these toxins effectively we can look forward to a long, healthy, quality life. By addressing all of the various types of toxins that produce tissue acid residue, by strengthening all of our systems–physical, mental and spiritual–we can achieve this future.

Too many of the elderly are abandoned in long term care facilities, poorly supervised, over medicated, depressed, full of toxins and waiting for release. Don't become a health care statistic, learn what is required and then implement a plan to strive towards an alkaline way of life and start to enjoy quality in your life. |
